Hoffman Centre of Global Sustainability along with WWF hosted an event at Graduate Institute, inviting Prince Hussain Aga Khan along with Head of WWF, and head of Hoffman Centre of Global Sustainability. The event titled- Our Living Oceans- Solutions for a productive and resilient ocean, sustaining people and nature.
Before we headed to the event, I got a chance to check the photographs presented by Prince Aga Khan. The deep ocean holds beauty that was wonderfully captured by Prince Aga Khan. Of all the photographs, I loved the vertically sleeping whale.
In the opening speech, Marie Laure Salle shared about the collaboration of the institutions to drive the message forward during the times of uncertainty, politically and otherwise. Beatrice shared a few aspects of how climate change is affecting the world and what could be done. Prince Aga Khan shared a poetic description, displaying the photos he clicked during his expeditions. Witnessing the transitions in the oceans through decades, he observed how plastic has become prevalent in the last 5 years, more than ever. WWF head talked about the need of coordinated action to save our oceans. Floor was opened for questions, a few quick discussions on deep sea mining and the dangerour effects of it. I got a chance to meet a couple of Environment cohort friends and called it a day.
